The first 100 days in office will mark the beginning of transformative change for
Malawi. The focus will be on a total overhaul—remodeling and streamlining government operations to lay the foundation for sustainable growth, enhanced governance, and national prosperity.

First 100 Days Initiatives

Fiscal Remodeling
Goal: Enhance tax efficiency and compliance to maximize government revenue.
• Review existing tax structures to identify and close loopholes.
• Streamline tax collection processes to improve compliance and reduce the burden on businesses and individuals.

Monetary Policy Overhaul
Goal: Ensure stability in the financial system and curb inflation.
• Collaborate with the Reserve Bank to set balanced interest rates that encourage investment.
• Improve liquidity management in the banking sector.
• Strengthen regulations to reduce financial risk and promote stability

Foreign Exchange Policy Revisions
Goal: Stabilize the currency and improve the balance of payments.
• Attract FDI in key sectors like agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing.
• Establish a transparent, predictable framework for managing currency exchange rates.
• Forge regional and global partnerships to expand trade and investment opportunities.

Depoliticizing the Civil Service
Goal: Establish a professional, impartial, and ethical civil service.
• Implement merit-based recruitment and promotion processes.
• Provide comprehensive training on ethics, professionalism, and public service delivery.
• Establish independent oversight bodies to uphold accountability.

Streamlining Government Operations
Goal: Increase efficiency and reduce bureaucratic redundancies.
• Conduct audits of all government departments to identify inefficiencies.
• Digitize public services for improved accessibility and faster processing.
• Introduce a “one-stop shop” model for public service delivery.
• Review and implement reforms initiated by the late Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and his team.

Implementing Austerity Measures
Goal: Address budget deficits and ensure long-term fiscal health.
• Freeze non-essential government hiring and expenditures.
• Optimize government asset management and accountability systems.

Combating Corruption
Goal: Ensure strong leadership and accountability.
• Appoint a qualified, independent leader for the ACB.
• Empower the ACB with resources and autonomy to investigate and prosecute corruption cases.

Presidential Directives

Transitioning the Government Car Fleet
On Day 1, a Presidential Directive will mandate that government departments, including ministers, transition from gas-guzzling SUVs to smaller, eco-friendly, fuel-efficient vehicles. This initiative aims to:
• Reduce fuel and maintenance costs.
• Implement reasonable fuel allocation limits for heads of departments, ministers,and judges.

Government Asset Audit
A comprehensive audit of all government state houses and assets, including the Zomba Residence, will be conducted. Based on audit findings:
• Underutilized, wasteful, or non-essential assets will be considered for privatization through sales or PPPs.
• Assets may be repurposed for hospitality, tourism, or converted into healthcare facilities.
• Generate substantial savings for the Malawi government.
